NBYICN leader Melanie Doucet is currently working on a doctorate in Social Work at the University of McGill. Tempered by a combination of personal experience in the care system and substantial policy work at the provincial level, Melanie is positioning herself as an emerging expert in fields related to child protection services.
Our agency will continue to follow her fantastic work and to support her however we can. As a primer, take a look at her recent policy brief entitled In the Fast Lane Towards Adulthood: Supporting Youth Aging Out of Foster Care in New Brunswick. It details a number of relevant issues and highlights a number of important things to consider as the provincial government looks to improve their standards for children and youth in care in New Brunswick.
